Notes on using Xiangqi Font:

Install Xiangqi font file (xiangqi.ttf) into your Windows 3.1/95/98/NT system with the Control Panel. Be reminded to copy the font file to your harddisk.

You can use the font for publishing or writing web pages for non-commercial purposes.

Check and adjust the character size and line height/spacing of your editing software.
If you use MS Word, set the line height as the xiangqi font size or you will see a poorly spaced xiangqi board.

Since the pieces' names are on the inner parts of the characters only, you may prefer larger font size and line height for better viewing.

The xiangqi pieces notation follows World Xiangqi Federation (WXF). Red pieces are represented by lowercase letters and black pieces by uppercase letters.

You can copy a blank xiangqi board and paste it onto the appropriate space of your works before entering the pieces to make diagrams easily.

If you have not decided where to place the xiangqi diagram onto your publication, you may put the diagram onto a text block first and revise its position later. This makes your page layout position much easier.

If you encounter a blank space on the quote character ( ' ), your editing software might probably have changed the character to open / close quote characters ( ‘ / ’ ) automatically. This problem can be avoided by either one of the three following methods:

paste the xiangqi board characters from existing files instead of type it manually;
undo your last edit -- the quote character transformation;
disable the automatic quotation correction function of your editor.
